Teams ready for Bilisi Soccer Festival

The ninth edition of the MS Quality Bilisi Soccer Festival will be staged at the Tshenzhelani grounds this weekend.

As usual, eight teams from Masisi and the surrounding areas will take part in the two-day event. Teams that will battle it out for the championship in this year’s event are Gumbu FC, Dovho FC, Tuwani FC, Sigonde FC, Mutele FC, Tshenzhelani Diiteleni and Maramanzhi Home Sweepers.  

The tournament was officially launched during a ceremony at the Tshenzhelani grounds last Saturday. The toss for the quarter-final matches was conducted during the ceremony. The quarter-final matches will be played tomorrow (Saturday) while the semi-final and final matches will be played on Sunday.

Gumbu FC and Rangani FC will open the day’s programme tomorrow morning, followed by the match between Dovho FC and Tuwani FC. Sigonde and Tuwani will then clash and the day’s programme will be wrapped up by the match between Tshenzhelani Diiteleni and Maramanzhi Home Sweepers.

According to one of the organizers of the tournament, Mr Mutshidzi Mushaphi, this year’s champions will take home R3 500, a floating trophy, gold medals and soccer balls. The runners-up will receive R1 500, silver medals and soccer balls. The teams booted out of the tournament in the semi-final stage will each receive R1 000.

According to Mushaphi, tomorrow’s matches will be preceded by a 5-km fun run. MS Quality and Hollywood Bets are the main sponsors of the tournament.
