Feast of goals in mayoral game

Tshiulungoma FC secured a place in the final of the Thulamela Mayoral Cup Tournament by beating Tshilavulu Elite 4-3 at the Makhuvha Stadium on Sunday.

Tshiulungoma made their intentions clear from the start. They scored two goals within the first 10 minutes of the game. It took them only two minutes to open their account.

The keeper of Elite, Vhahangwele Nethengwe, mishandled the ball, following Mulweli Maregwa’s close-range attempt. Lufuno Mudau, who was waiting nearby, hooked the ball in to give his side an early lead.

Elite pressed the panic button after Tshiulungoma’s goal and lost shape in the middle of the park. They were severely punished for that. Lufuno Mudau, who scored a hat trick in the game, did it again six minutes afterwards.

A clearing error by a defender of Elite gave rise to Tshiulungoma’s second goal which seemed to be a wake-up call to the strikers of Elite. They pulled one back in the 26th minute. Ndamulelo Netshidongololwe beat the keeper with a half volley.

The struggle continued, with Elite pressing forward in their search for an equalizer. Their efforts did not pass without reward as they found the equalizer in the 39th minute. Ndamulelo Netshidongololwe blasted in a rocket, following a scramble within the box, to bring the half-time score to 2-2. Tshiulungoma reclaimed the lead nine minutes into the last half.

Maanda Luvhimbi beat the keeper with a ground cutter. Elite were awarded a penalty moments thereafter. This after Aluwani Makhura was brought down within the box. Lutendo Ndou shot straight to the keeper, who easily saved it. Ndamulelo Netshidongololwe scored Elite’s equalizer 10 minutes towards the end of the game, but Tshiulungoma scored the winning goal through Lufuno Mudau in the dying minutes of the game.
