Black Leopards in the top 8?

Should they manage to collect the maximum points against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Sunday, Black Leopards will forget about facing relegation at the end of the season and focus on a new target: finishing their league programme within the top 8 position on the log.

Lidoda Duvha are currently lying in the 11th position with 20 points.

A win is likely to lift Leopards to the ninth spot on the log, depending on how Lamontville Golden Arrows and Highlands Park will play in their weekend matches. Arrows and Highlands Park are in the 10th and ninth position with 22 and 21 points respectively.

Lehlohonolo Masalesa, the Leopards’ playmaker, will not be available for selection on Sunday. He was given his marching orders in their game against Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup competition at the Thohoyandou Stadium last Saturday evening.

Robert Ngambi, the Malawian international, is likely to be in the team’s starting 11 in the absence of Masalesa. Marks Munyai, the team’s skipper, will also be back in action against Celtic. Munyai watched the team’s game last Saturday against Orlando Pirates from the grandstand as a result of suspension.

According to the club’s spokesperson, Mr Berry Ramunenyiwa, Lidoda Duvha acquired the services of the Mamelodi Sundowns striker Thokozani Sekotlong this week. Should he be given a chance on Sunday, Sekotlong is likely to form a good combination with Mwape Musonda at the forefront.

The Leopards’ left back, Pentjie Zulu, is a doubtful starter against Celtic. He was taken off the pitch on a stretcher in their game against Orlando Pirates.

The other PSL weekend fixtures are: Bidvest Wits vs Maritzburg United, Lamontville Golden Arrows vs Highlands Park, Free State Stars vs Polokwane City and Baroka FC vs Chippa United.
