R15 000 for winner of Taki Games

 

The registration window for the annual Taki Games opened last weekend. According to one of the tournament organizers, Mr Takalani Prince Rabali, the tournament is open to all teams countrywide.

The registration will remain open until next Saturday, 1 December. This year’s registration fee is R500 per team.

According to him, the first 32 teams to register will be eligible to take part in the annual event. The first preparatory meeting will be held at the Matanda Primary School next Saturday morning, 1 December. The toss for the opening matches will be conducted during the meeting.

The first-round matches are expected to be played at different venues the following day.

According to Rabali, this year’s champions will take home R15 000, a soccer kit, gold medals and a floating trophy. The runners-up will receive R8 000, a soccer kit and silver medals.

The teams booted out of the tournament in the semi-final stage will each take home R2 500 and a soccer kit, and the teams defeated in the quarter-final stage will each receive R1 000.

The last 16 matches of the tournament will be staged at the Rabali Stadium over the weekend of 22 and 23 December. The final will be played on Sunday, 30 December.
