Mikhado and Tigers share the glory

In their ABC Motsepe League match at the Rabali Stadium on Saturday, Mikhado FC shared the spoils with Boyne Young Tigers, following their 2-2 draw.

Just like in their opening league match against Pusela City that was played at the same venue two weeks ago, Mikhado displayed entertaining football throughout the game but failed to collect the maximum points.

The home side pressed hard in search for an early goal. Their overlapping midfielder, Lucky Mkhari, was brought down within the box. That prompted the referee to award a penalty to  Mikhado. Sabelo Mtshali made no mistake from the white spot.

Tigers took 25 minutes to retaliate. The keeper of Mikhado, Amon Phophi, mishandled the ball and Lazzy Selowa, who was waiting nearby, blasted in a rocket from inside the box.

Mikhado reclaimed the lead seven minutes before the end of the first half. Samkelo Msanyana forced his way through the defence of Tigers and unleashed a ground cutter from the edge of the box. The Tigers’ keeper, Modjadji Maoto, watched in disbelief as the ball hit the back of the net.

Mikhado effected two changes to their starting lineup five minutes into the last half. They introduced Vutomi Ngomana and Ndivhuwo Thavhana for Ndamulelo Mugadi and David Nkambule respectively. Abraham Sebola of Tigers was reprimanded with a card, following a dangerous tackle on Vutomi Ngomana in the 67th minute.

Young Tigers strengthened their striking force by replacing Ronny Hlaole with George Mankga in the 70th minute. Mankga was brought down in the 35-meter area, prompting the referee to award a free kick to Tigers. Mzwakhe Mthimkulu beat the keeper with a volley from the free kick.

Thabang Makondo of Mikhado was given his marching orders for using abusive words towards the assistant referee later in the game.
