Mikhado let City off the hook

ABC Motsepe League rookies Pusela City came back from a 0-2 deficit to beat Mikhado FC 3-2 at a packed Rabali Stadium on Saturday.

The Musina-based referee, Mr Eric Sebabi, flashed his first yellow card in the sixth minute when he cautioned Garth Dube of City for tackling Ndamulelo Mugadi from behind.

Mikhado played entertaining football throughout the first half. They were awarded a free kick in the 24th minute after Lucky Mkhari was brought down in the 25-meter area. Khuthadzo Tshikulumela beat the keeper with a half volley from the free kick.

Thulani Mabizela, the Mikhado captain, was also booked for dangerous play in the 29th minute.

The home side enjoyed their 1-0 lead until the end of the first half. Mikhado came back from the half-time break in red soccer kit after playing in white in the first half. This after the league’s secretary, Mr Patrick Seema, instructed them to put on the league sponsor’s kit as they left for the half-time break.

Mikhado replaced Tshikulumela with Vutomi Ngomana six minutes into the last half. Ngomana formed a good combination with David Nkambule at the forefront. The home side increased the lead when Vutomi Ngomana headed home, following David Nkambule’s square pass.

The visitors from Tzaneen did not stop fighting and pulled one back in the 68th minute when Percival Dlamuka beat the keeper with a half volley.

Mikhado replaced Ndamulelo Mugadi with Jerry Tshabalala in a bid to strengthen their midfield. Mikhado’s keeper, Bongani Mtshali, was caught napping when Stanley Maake beat him with a long-range half volley. Pusela City were awarded a free kick late in the game. Wesley Mkhari scored City’s winning goal from the free kick.
