Bad weekend for Peace Makers

Last weekend was an ugly one for Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers. They managed to bank only one point into their league account from the two MMK Administrators Soccer League matches they played over the weekend.

They lost 1-2 to Lwamondo Pull Together at Lwamondo on Saturday and then shared the spoils with Univen FC in a 1-1 draw at the Tshivhazwaulu grounds the following day.

Their game against Univen FC was characterized by wasted scoring opportunities. The home side were playing into the wind in the first half but managed to maintain their shape in the middle of the park. The referee, Ms Unarine Nembaleni, flashed the first yellow card in the 18th minute. Thendo Raphulu of Peace Makers tackled Khatheni Mukomafhedzi from behind.

The students threatened to score two minutes afterwards. Siboniso Sibiya went loose from the left corner and dished a beautiful square pass to Polite Maluleke. He, however, shot aimlessly from close range. Polite Maluleke was brought down within the box in the 34th minute. That prompted the referee to award a penalty to the students. Siboniso Sibiya made no mistake from the white spot.

Univen replaced Maluleke with Kagiso Molepe three minutes into the last half. Peace Makers responded by introducing Thivhulawi Rammese for Michael Ndou soon afterwards.

Khatheni Mukomafhedzi of Univen was also booked for dangerous play in the 64th minute. He tackled the Peace Makers’ captain, Fhatuwani Mathivha, from behind and he was lucky not to see red.

Peace Makers strengthened their striking force by introducing Tshamano Mulaudzi for Gift Hasani in the 75th minute. Their equalizing goal came nine minutes before the end of the regulation time. Tshifhango Mulaudzi beat the keeper with a header, following a corner kick that was taken by Fhatuwani Mathivha.
