MTG increases sponsorship for Thulfa

 

MTG Funeral Services will continue to sponsor the Thulamela Local Football Association (Thufla) in the coming season.

The general manager of the company, Mr Shudu Magwabeni, revealed this during the association’s prize-giving ceremony at the 2Ten Hotel last Sunday afternoon.

He further stated that the sponsorship amount would increase from R160 000 to R170 000 next season.

The champions from the 10 streams, Tswinga Young Stars, Ngovhela XI Experience, Muraga Hazad Hotspurs, Begwa United Brothers, Ngalavhani FC, Tshanzhe Pre Mighty, Phiphidi Bush Bucks, Tshitereke Young Masters, Makwarani Frelimo Boys and Shadani Dangerous Scorpions, each received R7 000. The teams that finished from the second to the ninth position received cash prizes ranging from R6 000 to R2 500, while the remaining teams each received a consolation prize of R1 000.

The MTG/PIB KO champions, Sheshe Bush Bucks, received R20 000 and a floating trophy. The runners-up, Mashishi Young Tigers, went home with R10 000. The third-placed side, Mulindavhathu Ocean Swallows, received R7 000. Lurangwe the Angel, who finished in fourth position, received R5 000. The teams booted out in the quarter-final stage were each given a cash prize of R2 000.

The teams that reached the semi-final stage of the competition, Sheshe Bush Bucks, Mashishi Young Tigers, Mulindathavha Ocean Swallows and Lurangwe the Angel, received their cash prizes and soccer kits.

During the ceremony, a representative from the Safa Vhembe regional league, Mr Joseph Maphaha, praised the sponsors for channeling money towards the development of football at grassroots level. He said that the Thulamela Local Football Association was the best local association when it came to the registration of players through the Mysafa player registration system last season.

During the ceremony, it was announced that the activities for the new season will commence over the first weekend of December.
