Leopards and Baroka in Limpopo derby

The Thohoyandou Stadium will be the best place to be next Wednesday evening (October 3). The much-talked-about Limpopo Absa Premiership between Black Leopards and Baroka FC will be staged there.

Both Black Leopards and Baroka are in shock after losing their matches last weekend. Baroka suffered a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Orlando Pirates at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane last Saturday. Lidoda Duvha were the hardest hit last weekend. They were brutally walloped 0-4 by SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria.

Leopards’ head coach, Mr Joel “The Prophet” Masutha, said they had put the defeat behind them and they were ready to restore their lost pride at the expense of Baroka.

Masutha attributed the team’s defeat to some of the players’ health condition on the day of the match. According to him, four of his players, including their Lesotho international, Tumelo Khutlang, were complaining of running stomachs before the game.

Leopards’ centre back, Jean Munganga, who watched their game against SuperSport United from the grandstand because of injury, will be available for selection. Should he be given a chance, Munganga is poised to form a good combination with Marks Munyai, Thivhavhudzi Ndou and Pentjie Zulu at the back, while Phathutshedzo Nange and Eden Nene will make things happen in the middle of the park.

The game is scheduled to start at 19:30.

Orlando Pirates will host Golden Arrows at the Orlando Stadium, while Free State Stars will travel to Port Elizabeth for their match against Chippa United. Bloemfontein Celtic and Mamelodi Sundowns will meet at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.

The fixtures for next Tuesday, 2 October, are: Polokwane City vs Supersport United, Cape Town City vs Bidvest Wits, Highlands Park vs Kaizer Chiefs and Amazulu vs Maritzburg United.
