Double blow for Black Leopards

Black Leopards are still battling to come to terms with what happened to them last weekend.

The senior team lost 0-4 to SuperSport United in their Absa Premiership League match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Sunday. Their Multichoice Diski Challenge (MDC) side donated points to Baroka FC, following their 1-2 defeat at the Thohoyandou Stadium the previous day.

It took SuperSport United only two minutes to take the lead. James Keene beat the keeper with a diving header. Aubrey Modiba doubled the lead for Matsatsantsa in the 34th minute. Evans Rusike made it 3-0 about 20 minutes before the end of the game, but that was not the end of Leopards' woes.  James Keene completed his brace three minutes before the final whistle.

Back in Thohoyandou, the MDC Leopards were the first to find the net. Their solitary goal came two minutes before the referee, Mr Henson Brett, blew the half-time whistle.

The visitors from Polokwane came back strongly in the last half. They even effected three changes to their starting line-up in a bid to enhance their scoring chances.

Chris Matombo of Black Leopards was reprimanded with a card for dangerous play in the 57th minute. Jemondre Dickens of Baroka found himself on the wrong side of the football laws two minutes afterwards. He had kicked the Leopards’ keeper, Lutho Mbanjwa.

Baroka took the lead in the 78th minute through Pabalelo Mowa.

The defeat was the third in a row for Black Leopards. They lost 1-2 to Orlando Pirates and 0-1 to Bloemfontein Celtic before suffering the 0-4 drubbing last Sunday. Lidoda Duvha are now languishing at the bottom of the log, following the three defeats. They are tied on five points with Baroka FC, Chippa United and Maritzburg United.
