Chippas and Morning Stars in Vhembe derby

The fight for promotion and to avoid relegation at the end of the season will continue among the teams affiliated to the Limpopo Stream of the Sasol Women’s Soccer League this weekend.

Six matches will be played throughout the province tomorrow (Saturday), while the remaining two will be played on Sunday.

All eyes will be on the match between Chippas United Ladies and Shayandima Morning Stars on Sunday. Chippas will enjoy home-ground advantage as the match will be played at the Makhuvha Stadium.  It remains to be seen whether Chippas will continue from where they left off last Saturday. After a series of loses in their previous matches, Chippas made a comeback and beat Tshandama Young Stars 4-0 at the Rabali Stadium.

On the other hand, Morning Stars suffered a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Maindis Ladies last Saturday. Apart from the fact that winning the match will restore the team’s pride, Morning Stars must collect the maximum points to keep their title hopes alive.

Chippas’ defenders will have a mammoth task to stop the Stars’ strikers, Pfarelo Sikhwari, Lindelani Ndou and Musiiwa Ramaremisa.

Maindis Ladies will host Real Mighty Kings at the Capricorn FET College campus grounds. It will be players like Felicia Rikhotso and Molepo “Maseven” Rapatsa who are expected to keep the Kings’ defence running for cover throughout the game.

Moria Sweepers will entertain Mphanama Ladies at the Moria grounds and Samba Girls will travel to Modimolle where they will lock horns with Kanatla Ladies at the Nylstroom Hoërskool grounds.

Mandebele Happy Fighters and Re Tla Dira will meet at the Mandebele grounds in Zebediela. Botlokwa Ladies will play against Tshandama Young Stars at the Sefene High School grounds. The University of Limpopo will have a date with Sisters at the Oscar Mphethe Stadium in Turfloop, while Seven Stars Ladies will visit the First Touch Academy.
