Try Again crowned as champions

Madombidzha Try Again were crowned as the champions of the Madombidzha Nthabi Tarven Easter tournament, when they beat Madombidzha Arsenal 7-6 at Madombidzha on Monday.

The winner was determined by a penalty shoot-out. The final score was 3-all before the match went into a shoot-out.

Arsenal would have scored at least three goals, had it not been for Vuwani Galedzane's acrobatic goalkeeping. Try Again's striker, Thabo Semetla, was a difficult man to mark. He eluded the Arsenal defence as he kept running from the start of the match.

Arsenal's keeper, Nyengedzo Machaba, also played superbly and he denied the opposition several sure chances. Llody Davhana of Arsenal broke the ice in the 26th minute. Against the run of play, he caught Galedzne off-guard.

The goal acted as a catalyst for Try Again. It was therefore not surprising that Khathutshelo Raulinga equalised from Aluwani Makhumisane's pass seven minutes later. Try Again tried to use offside traps and nearly paid dearly, as Londy Musiamo and Rendani Sithodo took advantage of the situation. Arsernal scored their second gaol via Llody Davhana, who completed his brace in the 60th minute.

Percy Munonoka increased the tally moments later, with a blistering shot that beat the Try Again keeper. Try Again reduced the margin in the 78th minute via Mukondeleli Naledzani and Khathutshelo Ralulingal equalised for Try Again after he receive pre-cooked pass from Thomas Funzani in the 84th minute.

Madombidzha Try Again went home with R1 500 and a floating trophy. The runners-up, Madombidzha Arsenal, collected R1 000 and third -placed Madombidza Western Stars received R450.

During the presentation of the prizes are, from left to right, Aluwani Makhumisane of Try Again, Makonde Mbedzi, Beauty Malotsha, Sondaha Makhado (sponsor), Chester Malotsha and Oriel Mandiwana.
