The Musina tennis team display their medals and trophy after obtaining the first position during the IMET tournament staged at the Lesley Manyathela Stadium on Saturday.  

Musina impress at IMET

 

The Musina Municipality’s tennis, darts and table tennis teams impressed everyone when they scooped first positions during the Inter-Municipal Employee Tournament (IMET) at the Lesley Manyathela Stadium in Musina on Saturday.

The tournament was sponsored by Sanlam and included teams from Musina, Blouberg, Makhado and the Greater Tzaneen municipalities.

Representing the Musina tennis team, Collen Netshivhulana said they were fully prepared for the tournament. He said the victory was the fruits of their daily practice sessions and team-building discussions. “Judged by the level of our preparedness, we were very sure that nothing would stop us from winning this tournament. We beat Tzeneen by 32- 6.”

Justice Maphaha, who plays for the Musina darts, team said: “Although the games were tough, we managed to pull through with 10 points. We were followed by Tzaneen with 9 points and Blouberg occupied the last spot with 2 points.”

In other sporting codes, Blouberg became the overall winner in soccer after beating Makhado 1-0 in the final. Musina ended in third position. Makhado won the netball, followed by Musina and Blouberg. Tzaneen were the winners in pool, with Musina second and Blouberg third.

In volleyball, Blouberg took the championship, followed by Makhado and Musina. 

Ms Janine Smith of Sanlam said that she was happy with the success of the tournament and committed to providing a sponsorship annually. “It is all about promoting a healthy lifestyle, fostering active community involvement and creating a social platform as part of our social responsibility plans.”
