Tshiluvhi and Mulamuli crowned CTM champions

Tshiluvhi and Mulamuli primary schools were crowned the 2018 CTM Cup champions in Vhembe on Saturday during a tournament at the CTM community sports fields on the Punda Maria road.

Tshiluvhi defeated Tshishonga 4-1 in the finals. They started their journey to victory by beating Tshamavhudzi 1-0 in the first game. In the next round, they beat Lukhaimane by 1-0 and then played to a goalless draw with Mafenya Primary. They then progressed to the final, where they met Tshishonga.

On the netball field, Mulamuleli’s girls were too strong and beat Beuster 6-3.

This was the first such tournament to be played in the Vhembe area. The winners in the soccer and netball each received R10 000. The money will be utilised to improve the learning facilities at the two schools. The runners-ups and other participants were given medals

The schools are selected randomly to participate in the tournament, and in future the winners of the previous tournament will automatically be included. Sixteen primary schools participated in the tournament. They were Tshiluvhi, Tshishonga, Tshamavhudzi, Mafenya, Tshifhurwi, Lukunde, Lukhaimane and Liivha, who met in the soccer cup challenge, and Mulamuli, Beuster, Matsira, Nweli, Malamangwa, Tshedza, Mbahe and Maunga participated in the netball challenge.

The project manager of the mother group of CTM, Italtile, Mrs Thoko Phakathi, said the main aim of the event was to take the kids off the streets and to show the community the CTM ground that is available for the community to use.

The tournament was sponsored by CTM, in partnership with the Vhembe District Municipality and Dream Fields.
