The Dolphins geared for promotional play-offs

Although they still have nine matches to play before the end of the season, the log leaders of the Limpopo Stream of the ABC Motsepe League, The Dolphins FC, have already started with their preparations for the promotional play-offs.

The unstoppable Dolphins are 9 points clear of the second-placed Boyne Young Tigers.

According to the team’s head coach, Mr Joel Mongalo, their preparations for the promotional play-offs are at an advanced stage. He stated that they did not want to see themselves in the situation they found themselves during the play-offs last year. The Dolphins were the laughing stock in last year’s play-offs as they failed to collect even a single point, let alone score a goal.

Mongalo is adamant that nothing will stop them from taking part in the promotional play-offs. Boyne Young Tigers, Polokwane United and Great North FC, who are in the second, third and fourth positions respectively, stand an outside chance of winning the league title. They have 39, 38 and 36 points respectively.

The rookies, Baroka FC, have so far proven that they were not promoted by default, as they are in the fifth position.

Ndengeza FC, who were shining on top of the log in the first 10 matches, are now out of the league title race. They are in the sixth spot with 31 points, accumulated from 21 outings.

Three of the four Vhembe-based sides, Joe Maweja, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Madridtas FC, are fighting for survival. Maweja are rooted at the bottom of the log, while Madridtas and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila are in the 13th and 14th positions. Both Maweja and Tshakhuma collected full points in their matches last weekend.
