Mikhado and Great North share

In their ABC Motsepe League match at the Rabali Stadium on Saturday, Mikhado FC and Great North FC played to a 1-1 draw.

The visitors from Polokwane were by far the better side when it came to skills and ball possession. They created numerous chances in the opening minutes but their strikers let them down by shooting aimlessly at the goal finish.

Their front runner, Thomas Ntshadisane, received a neat pass from Johannes Phalane and tried his luck from the 20-meter area with a half volley. The keeper of Mikhado, Amon Phophi, braved the shot to execute a brilliant save.

The only time Mikhado came close to scoring in the first half was when their captain, Lufuno Ndou, distributed a beautiful pass to Rendani Thavhana, who shot wide from the edge of the box. The Musina-based referee, Mr Erick Sebabi, flashed the first yellow card in the 29th minute. Freddy Malope of Great North was reprimanded for obstructing Zwivhuya Mmbadaliga.

Great North approached the second half with more self-confidence. It took them 49 minutes to take the lead. Thomas Ntshadisane gave the ball a final touch after scramble within the box.

Mikhado introduced Vutomi Ngomana and sacrificed Salmom Nedoli in the 56th minute. Ngomana formed a deadly combination with Ndamulelo Mugadi and Tshimangadzo Mavhungu at the forefront.

Mikhado were unstoppable in the last 25 minutes of the game. They created many obvious scoring chances, but their strikers were not lucky enough to convert their chances. Their equalizing goal came in the 74th minute. Vutomi Ngomama beat the offside trap and blasted in a rocket from inside the box. Ngomana came close to scoring again when his ground cutter went a little wide, much to the fans’ disappointment.
