Highlands Park still on top

 

Despite sharing the spoils with Real Kings 1-1 in their NFD League match at the Makhulong Stadium on Saturday, Highlands Park are still shining on top of the log.

Lindokuhle Mtshali scored for the visitors from Durban 24 minutes into the game. The Lions of the North retaliated through Brendon Theron nine minutes before the end of the match.

Highlands Park are leading the pack with 34 points, five ahead of Jomo Cosmos. Lifa Hlongwane scored for Cosmos in the first half at the Vosloorus Stadium, but Ruzaigh Gamaldien equalised for Cape Town All Stars late in the game.

Witbank Spurs moved to the sixth spot on the log, following their 2-0 victory over Uthongathi FC at the Puma Rugby Stadium in eMalahleni. Doctor Skhosana and Jemaine Christine scored for the home side in the 36th and 76th minute respectively.

Ubuntu Cape Town proved that they are serious about escaping the relegation axe at the end of the season when they registered their second victory in a row by beating Mbombela United 2-1 at the Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit. Ubuntu, who have been languishing at the bottom of the log for the past four months, moved a step up on the log, following their victory.

Mthatha Bucks are rooted to the bottom of the log after playing to a 3-3 draw with Royal Eagles at the Mthatha Stadium. Mthatha Bucks have 16 points in hand, one behind Ubuntu Cape Town and Royal Eagles.

Richards Bay FC continued to pave their way up by beating Stellenbosch FC 2-1 in Richards Bay. Stellenbosch are now in in the ninth position.

Super Eagles blasted University of Pretoria 3-1 at the Absa Tuks Stadium in Pretoria. Black Leopards played to a 1-1 draw with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) at the Thohoyandou Stadium. Aluwani “Killer” Nedzamba scored for TTM in the first half. Lidoda Duvha fought back and Xolani Ndlovu hit the back of the net late in the second half.
