Young Frans in trials with Wits

For thousands of young people, the festive season means endless partying and excessive drinking, but not for the 18-year-old soccer star, Frans Nemakonde. Starting from 27 December, he will be doing trials with the PSL team, Wits University Development Academy in Gauteng.

The opportunity to showcase his soccer talents was made possible by Mamu Community Development, whose activities’ impact is starting to be felt throughout the district and country.

Locally, Frans, a resident of Tshaulu village, plays for Begwa United Brothers. “I would like to get myself up there on international level and see myself playing for Bafana Bafana as well,” he said. “I thank Mamu for giving me this great opportunity to showcase my talent and for continuing to open doors for me.”

Frans was welcomed at the Midrand head office of Hollywoodbets, where he received words of support from this sponsor. The general secretary of Mamu Community Development, Mr Jafter Mamugudubi, said that despite the fact that there were still some incidents of crimes reportedly committed by youths in the district, they took comfort in the fact that they were contributing towards annihilating all those negative traits. “We strive towards creating crime-free communities by catapulting our youths to positions that are then conducive for them to succeed in life,” he said.

Mamu Community Development thanked The Players’ Club's world soccer agent, Mr Glyn Blinkin, for his continued support. “We would also like to thank Hollywoodbets who continues to ensure that our boy has his trip fees sorted out, accommodation, food, sport material and other miscellaneous necessities,” Mamugudubi said.
