Can Chilliboy FC defend their Taki title?

It remains to be seen whether Chilliboy FC will be able to successfully defend the Taki Challenge trophy this year. The registration window for the annual event closed on Wednesday this week and the toss for the last-32 matches was conducted at the Nzhelele Hamasotsha Hall on Thursday (21st). The opening matches will be played at the Rabali Stadium on Saturday.

According to one of the organizers of the tournament, Mr Takalani Prince Rabali, this year’s champions will take home a cash prize amounting to R15 000, a floating trophy and a soccer kit. According to the rules of the tournament, the champions must donate R2 000 of their prize money to a charity of their choice.

The runners-up will receive R8 000 and a soccer kit. Teams that will finish in the third and fourth places will each receive a cash prize of R3 500. Teams booted out of the tournament in the quarterfinal stage will each receive a cash prize of R1500.

Chilliboy FC are the defending champions. They beat Johannesburg Pull Together in the final last year.
