Leopards ready to maul Spurs

Black Leopards are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations for their NFD League match against Witbank Spurs that will be played at the Thohoyandou Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

Leopards are still to lose a league match under the guidance of the team’s new head coach, Mr Ivan Minnaert. Lidoda Duvha collected seven points in their last three matches. They beat Super Eagles 2-1 and Mthatha Bucks 2-0 before playing to a 1-1 draw with Royal Eagles at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg last Saturday.

Asked about his plans for the game, Minnaert said that Spurs are no different from the other teams which they had beaten in the previous weeks. He said that they want to win their remaining two first round league matches and finish their first-round programme among the top four teams.

Witbank Spurs are one of the hot contenders for the league title. They drew 2-2 with the other league title chasers, Jomo Cosmos, at the Puma Rugby Stadium in eMalahleni last Sunday.

Leopards, who are currently in the 10th position on the log, will travel to Bethlehem next Tuesday where they will play against Super Eagles in their Nedbank Cup preliminary round match at the Goble Park Stadium.

In the other NFD league matches that will be played tomorrow, Stellenbosch FC will host Mbombela United at the Parow Park Stadium in Cape Town. The pace setters, Highlands Park, will entertain Mthatha Bucks at the Mthatha Stadium. Ubuntu Cape Town will host Uthongathi FC at the Parow Park Stadium in Cape Town on Sunday. Royal Eagles will be the visitors in their match against Jomo Cosmos at the Vosloorus Stadium.

The other NFD weekend matches are: Cape Town All Stars vs Pretoria University, Super Eagles vs Richards Bay FC and Real Kings vs Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

The remaining Nedbank preliminary matches fixtures that will be played next Tuesday and Wednesday are: Stellenbosch FC vs Mbombela United, Jomo Cosmos vs Ubuntu Cape Town, Witbank Spurs vs Richards Bay, Cape Town All Stars vs Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, Mthatha Bucks vs Uthongathi FC, Royal Eagles vs Pretoria University and Highlands Park vs Real Kings.
