Ramagalela scoops up two awards

The Polokwane City striker, Rodney “Rama” Ramagalela, the Mamvuka-born bulldozer-striker, was given recognition as the Absa Premier League Player of the Month and for the Goal of the Month during a ceremony at the PSL’s offices in Johannesburg last Thursday.

He was competing with the likes of Simphiwe Tshabalala (Kaizer Chiefs), Thabo Qalinge (Orlando Pirates), Sipho Moeti and Gift Motupa (both Baroka FC) and Sandile Zuke (Chippa United). Ramagalela started his career at Black Leopards and played for Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows before he joined Polokwane City.

Although City are now lying in the 10th position on the league log, Ramagalela is the league’s current top goal scorer with six goals in 10 matches. He proved that he was hungry for goals when he found the net twice when City beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1.

In an interview earlier this week, Ramagalela told Limpopo Mirror that his intention was to maintain his current form and finish the league programme as the top Premier League scorer. He added that he knew most of the teams would target him, but he would continue to score, despite all the odds.

He thanked his team's players, coach and management for the teamwork.
