MTG increases Thufla sponsorship

 

A local funeral parlour, MTG Funerals, will continue to sponsor the Thulamela Local Football Association (Thulfa) in the coming soccer season.

The general manager of PIB and MTG, Mr Shudu Magwabeni, announced this in his ceremonial speech during the association’s prize-giving ceremony at the 2Ten Hotel in Sibasa last Saturday.

Magwabeni stated that the sponsorship amount would increase from R150 000 to R160 000 next season. He appealed to the league officials to utilize the sponsorship money for the purpose it was meant for and in a transparent manner.

The MTG/PIB KO champions, Lukalo Hotspurs, received R20 000 and a floating trophy during the ceremony. Tshandama Try Together, who obtained the second position, went home with R10 000. The third- and fourth-placed sides, Ngwenani Manchester United and Lufule Arsenal, received R7 000 and R5 000 respectively.

The teams that were booted out in the quarterfinal stage, Luphephe FC, Makonde Youth FC, Ngovhela XI Experience and Mbahe Freedom Rebels, were each given R2 000.

The overall league champions, Tswinga Peace Makers, received R20 000 during the ceremony. Mukula Jamaican Stars obtained the second position and were presented with R15 000. Mutshenzheni Gorillas and Mavunde Hungry Vultures, who finished in the third and fourth place, received R12 000 and R10 000 respectively.

A cheque to the value of R8 000 was given to Muvuma FC, who obtained the fifth position. The other six teams who took part in the champ of champs tournament, Nweli Stone Breakers, Tshandama Try Together, Madandila Happy Boys, Mphego Real Rovers, Ngovhela Back Side and Ngudza Young Vultures, received R7 000 each.

During the ceremony it was announced that the opening league matches for the new season will be played over the first weekend of January next year.
