Stanley Mukondeleli of Phadziri kicks the high ball.
As part of their preparations for the new season, the newly formed Tshakhuma Project FC beat Phadziri FC 1-0 in their rehearsal match at the Tshakhuma Malaria grounds on Sunday.
Both sides displayed entertaining football, even though there was nothing more than pride at stake in the match. The absence of Rofhiwa “Danger” Netshiungani in the striking force of Tshakhuma Project was evident from the onset, as the home side did not have enough firing power.
The Tshakhuma keeper, Khuthadzo Mukomafhedzi, was put to the test in the 14th minute. This after Jabulani Nobela, the Phadziri fast forward, tried his luck from the 25-meter area with a half volley. Mukomafhedzi braved the hot shot and palmed the ball away for a corner kick.
Fhatuwani Mudau of Tshakhuma was reprimanded with a card in the 18th minute. He entered the field of play without the referee’s consent after leaving the pitch to change his soccer boots.
The keeper of Phadziri, Khodani Nemugumoni, was the busiest player in the last 15 minutes of the first half. At that stage, the Tshakhuma strikers were unstoppable. Tshakhuma introduced Lufuno “CJ” Mugodi for Masala Muedi earlier in the last half.
Ndivhuwo “Rooney” Makhado of Tshakhuma, who was later replaced with Maboho Nevari, was lucky to get away with a mere yellow card after tackling Thivhusiwi Ramukhuba the rough way. The wheel of fortune turned against the visitors from Masia village in the 69th minute. Rinae Madzhuta was on target, following a scramble within the box.
Phadziri did to stop fighting, even though time was fast running out for them. They effected two changes to their starting line-up in their search for the equalizer. They introduced Zwivhuya Ndwammbi and Jafter Chauke for Mukovhe Matumba and Melton Ntshauba respectively. That did not change the complexion of the game as Tshakhuma managed to maintain the lead until the final whistle.
