Dairo destroys Bayern

Dakalo “Dairo” Nwanamindwa of Mpheni Home Defenders destroyed Masakona Bayern in the quarterfinal of the James Rasimphi Summer Games. He scored a hat trick when his team beat Bayern 3-0 at Masia on Saturday.

Defenders took the game to their opponents from the onset, giving the Bayern’ defenders no time to breathe.

It took Defenders only 10 minutes to knock on Bayern’s door. Their slender left flank, Thabang Mathaha, miskicked the ball within the box. Defenders took the lead a minute later. Emmanuel Mphephu dished a pre-cooked pass to Nwanamindwa, who moved a few steps forward before unleashing a half volley. The keeper of Bayern, Mpho Muligwa, watched helplessly as the ball crossed the goal line.

Thabelo Mukwevho, the Bayern holding midfielder, was reprimanded with a card for a dangerous tackle in the 24th minute. The keeper of Defenders, Carlton Munyai, made his presence felt seven minutes before half time. He braved Khumbudzo Muvhango’s shot and palmed the ball away for a corner kick.

Defenders enjoyed their 1-0 lead until the proceedings for the first half came to an end. Bayern introduced Mpho Munyai for George Munyanyi early in the last half.

Defenders increased the margin in the 64th minute. Nwanamindwa beat the offside trap from the left corner and was brought down inside the penalty area, and the referee pointed to the white spot. Nwanamindwa scored from the spot.

Defenders did not stop fighting, although victory was almost certain. Their efforts paid off when Nwanamindwa headed home the third goal of his team in the 78th minute.

Khukbudzo Muvhango of Defenders was red-carded for a second bookable offence.
