Junior Aces wallop Pull Together

Makuya Junior Aces brutally walloped Madimbo Pull Together 6-1 to secure a place in the final of the Zimunga Soccer Tournament at the Zwigodini grounds on Saturday.

Pull Together were disorganized in all departments from the onset. It took Junior Aces only 10 minutes to stamp their authority. Uarilwela Mungadi caught the Pull Together keeper, Khuliso Munyai, off guard with a half volley.

That was a wake-up call to the strikers of Pull Together. They regrouped from behind and found the equalizer nine minutes later. Their solitary goal came via Thiambelwi Musweswe, whose ground cutter was too hot for the Aces’ keeper, Maanda Nethononda, to handle.

Aces took the game to Pull Together soon afterwards. They took the lead in the 24th minute. Jerry Mpofu was on target with a close-range half volley, following a neat pass from Lindelani Mudau. Junior Aces were leading 3-1 when the referee, Mr Eric “Khathikhathi” Munyai, blew the half-time whistle. Their third goal was an honour to Thendokhaye Siliga, who found the net in the 44th minute.

Pull Together tried their luck by introducing three new faces early in the last half. They replaced Thebelo Sididzha, Steven Mudau and James Munzhelele with Lavhelesani Nethavhani, Shudufhadzo Mashawana and Nndiliseni Ndou. Aces responded by introducing Rinae Mokgonyana and Tshimangadzo Mutele for Thendokhaye Siliga and Lindelani Mudau.

Rinae Mokgonyana made his presence felt in the 64th minute. He received a neat pass from Jerry Mpofu and blasted in a ground cutter. Mokgonyana was on target again five minutes later. He forced his way through the defence of Pull Together and sent the keeper the wrong way with a half volley. Mokgonyana completed his hat trick with a ground cutter in the dying minutes of the game.
