Mikhado lift the Total Challenge trophy

 

Mikhado Football Club were crowned the 2017 Total Challenge champions when they beat Mpheni Home Defenders 2-1 to lift the trophy. The match took place at the Makhuvha Stadium last Saturday.

The team from the Nzhelele Valley took home R20 000, gold medals, a floating trophy and soccer kit. Mpheni Home Defenders received R10 000, silver medals and soccer kit during a ceremony at the stadium shortly after the game.

Ngwenani Young Chiefs (third), received R7 000, and Phandulaluvalo FC (fourth) R5 000. The teams that lost in the quarterfinals, Obert Ministries Fighters, Beuster Mighty Chiefs, Muswodi Happy Fighters and Makuya Junior Aces, each received R3 600. Wayeni Sea Robbers, (ninth), took home a consolation prize of R2 600.

The captain of Phandulaluvalo, Engedzedzani Mbedzi, was nominated the best player of the tournament and Ndaedzo Mareda of Home Defenders received the best goal scorer’s award. Elekanyani Nemakanga of Mikhado was the best goalkeeper and Mr Itani Musandiwa of Mikhado the best coach award. Mr Eric “Khathikhathi” Munyai, who officiated in the final, was nominated as the best referee. The winners in the individual categories were each given a cash prize of R1 000.
