Mikhado and Defenders in Total final

The Makhuvha Stadium will be a hive of activity on Saturday afternoon. The much-awaited final of the lucrative Total Soccer Challenge will be staged there.

Mikhado FC and Mpheni Home Defenders will face each other in the final. Mikhado have a score to settle with Defenders. Home Defenders beat them 5-3 in the final of the promotional play-off match at the Thohoyandou Stadium last month.

Mikhado and Home Defenders are at each other’s throats as the arbitrator is still to make a ruling regarding the registration status of one of Home Defenders’ players, Rinae Hector Mulaudzi. (See report elsewhere in the paper).

The champions will receive a cash prize of R20 000 and a soccer kit. The runners-up will receive R10 000 and soccer kit. An amount of R7 000 awaits the third-placed team.

The team booted out in the losers’ final will walk away with a cash prize of R5 000 and the teams that failed to progress further than the quarterfinal stage will each receive a cash prize of R3 600. Wayeni Sea Robbers, who finished in the ninth position, will receive R2 600.

The teams booted out in the quarterfinal stage are Obert Ministries Fighters, Beuster Mighty Chiefs, Muswodi Happy Fighters and Makuya Junior Aces.

The best player, best goalkeeper, best coach, best referee and the player who will score the best goal in the tournament will each receive a cash prize of R1 000.

Phandulaluvalo FC and Ngwenani Young Chiefs will meet in the losers’ final match, which is scheduled to start at 12:00, while the final will kick off at 14:30.
