Stars too good for Defenders

Sinthumule Dangerous Stars proceeded to the final of the Winter Tournament after beating Gogobole Home Defenders 7-6 in a penalty shoot-out at Gogobole on Sunday.

The match started at a fast pace, with both sides threatening the targets. Defenders missed a fortune in the eighth minute, when their striker, Phungela Ndadza, beat keeper Phumudzo Ramanzi and shot wide with an empty net in front of him.

The match turned lukewarm towards the end of the first half. This was influenced by the fact that both sides were holding onto the ball for too long. Stars should have scored the first goal, but their kingpin, Percy Rasikhanya, shot wide.

In the last five minutes, Stars showed that they meant business by going forward fiercely. The demon striker Langanani Ramambila beat the off-side trap and ran straight to the stranded keeper. His attempt went wide.
