Black Leopards close in on play-offs

Black Leopards are almost sure of a place in the promotional play-offs. This follows their 2-1 victory over FC Cape Town in their National First Division League match at the NNK Rugby Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday.

The victory was a sweet revenge for Lidoda Duvha as the Thohoyandou outfit were beaten 3-4 in their Nedbank Cup KO match at the same venue about four months ago.

Black Leopards took the lead in the 10th minute when their overlapping defender, Marks Munyai, blasted in a rocket from the edge of the box. They increased the margin seven minutes into the last stanza when Khayelihle Shozi caught the Cape Town keeper napping with a long-range ground cutter.

The home side pulled one back through Lucky Mathonsi in the 74th minute.

Magezi FC moved one step up on the log following their unexpected 4-2 victory over Royal Eagles at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. Ditloriso Mpyane scored a brace, while the other goals came via Thembisani Nevhulamba and Karabo Litabe. Jabulani Nene and Sedwyn George scored the Eagles’ two goals in the 7th and 39th minute respectively.

Although it was an away fixture for them, Amazulu beat Stellenbosch 2-1 at the Parow Park Stadium. Amazulu’s goals came via Thapelo Nyongo and Vukile Mgibisa in the 28th and 55th minute respectively while Stellenbosch’s solitary goal was an honour to Diego Brown.

Real Kings were far too strong for Milano United and overpowered them 5-1 at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg. Witbank Spurs were unstoppable when they thrashed the University of Pretoria 4-0 at the Puma Rugby Stadium in Emalahleni. Joshua Souls scored a hat-trick while the 4th one came via Dumisani Gumede.

Mbombela United shared the spoils with Mthatha Bucks with whom they played to a 1-1 draw at the Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit. Thanda Royal Zulu maintained their lead on the log by beating Santos 2-0 at the Umhlatuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay.
