Disco on top in Shayandima derby

Shayandima Disco Five emerged victorious in their Shayandima derby against Shayandima Dynamos and beat them 3-1 in their MMK Administrators League match at the Shayandima grounds on Saturday.

Dynamos enjoyed ball possession for the better part of the game, but it was difficult for their strikers to find the net. Although no goal was scored in the first half, both sides displayed entertaining football. The only player who was booked in the first half was Johannes Mudau. He found himself on the wrong side of the football laws after a late tackle on Simon Mudau in the 28th minute.

Dynamos were forced to effect a change to their starting line-up early in the second half. Their central defender, Rendani Nyadzani, was taken off the pitch on a stretcher after sustaining an injury. He was replaced with Pfano Mugwena. Disco Five were awarded a free kick just outside the box in the 58th minute. Oscar Ntshauba, who scored a brace in the game, beat the keeper with a volley from the free kick.

Dynamos effected two more changes to their original squad in a bid to neutralize the home side. They introduced Ndivhuwo Mahwasane and Rialivhuwa Ratshilumela for Ndivhuwo Leshivha and Phathutshedzo Netshikulwe respectively. The move was not good enough to stop Disco Five from scoring two more goals. Oscar Ntshauba forced his way through the defence of Dynamos and sent the keeper the wrong way to complete his brace.

Disco Five put the matter beyond doubt when they scored the third through Talukanyani Bugane in the 74th minute. Khuthadzo Mushadu of Disco Five was reprimanded with a card for protesting against the referee’s decision two minutes afterwards. Dynamos pulled one back through Opra Sithodolo nine minutes before the final whistle. He beat the keeper with a volley from the free kick.
