Tshivhazwaulu Peace Makers narrowly beat Univen FC 1-0 in their MMK Administrators League match at the Tshivhazwaulu grounds on Sunday.

It was the second victory for Peace Makers in a row. They beat Tshakhuma RO United 1-0 at the Tshakhuma Malaria grounds the previous day.

Their game against Univen was a war from the onset to the bitter end. The technical staff for Peace Makers was forced to effect an early change to their starting line-up. This after Tshamano Maladzhi sustained a knee injury in the ninth minute. He was replaced with Lindelani Khomola.

Although the game was evenly contested, the home side showed a bigger appetite for goals. They threatened to score in the 14th minute. Their overlapping midfielder, Fhatuwani Mathivha, received a neat pass from Michael Ndou at the edge of the penalty box. Instead of trying his luck, Mathivha chose to pass the ball to Thivhulawi Rammese, who unleashed aimlessly from close range.

The goal that earned Peace Makers three vital points came in the 29th minute. Michael Ndou unleashed a volley from the 25-meter area. The ball hit the crossbar and bounced back into the field of play. Fhatuwani Mathivha, who was in the perfect scoring position, blasted in a rocket.

The visitors regrouped from behind and threatened to score when their right winger, Madilonga Mukwevho, dished a square pass from the right corner. As if they were hypnotized, the strikers of Univen watched as the ball went past the goal mouth.

Kennedy Phiri of Univen confronted the referee, Mr Mulalo Mubva, shortly after the final whistle and accused him of favouritism. That prompted the referee to give him his marching orders.
