Sweet revenge for Young Eagles

Maebane Young Eagles exacted sweat revenge when they beat rivals Makhitha Iyarunga 1-0 in an MMK Administrators League match at Makhitha on Sunday.

Last Tuesday, the two teams played their first-round match and Iyarunga won 4-3.

On Sunday, Eagles started at a fast pace, with the midfielders on fire and distributing good passes to the strikers. They threatened to score in the early minutes, when Humbulani Managa forced his way through the defence of Iyarunga before passing to David Netshaulu. His attempt missed the target by a whisker.

Iyarunga soon realised that Eagles were all over them and abandoned their positions and packed themselves at the far back. The second half saw Iyarunga pressing hard in search of goals. Moses Mabeba of  Iyarunga beat three defenders in a row but shot wide when left with only the keeper to beat.

Dakalo Masha of Eagles brought down Itani Dzhabuli and the referee pointed to the white spot, but Ndweleni Tsanwani shot straight to the keeper, Collet Maduwa.

Yende Munyadziwa of Eagles scored the only goal of the match in the 74th minute. He unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box that beat the keeper of Iyarunga, Mbavhalelo Mufamadi, hands down.
