Heavy fine for Lidoda Duvha

 

Black Leopards FC are still battling to come to terms with the outcome of the Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee's hearing.

During its meeting held at the league’s offices last Wednesday evening, the committee found Black Leopards and the club’s chairman, Mr David Thidiela, guilty of verbally abusing a match official. 

The case relates to an incident that took place during a NFD League match between Leopards and Royal Eagles at the Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday, 17 December last year. During the meeting it was proven that Mr Thidiela had verbally abused a match official, Mr Anwar Alexander, before the game started.

Although he pleaded not guilty to the charges, both Thidiela and his club were found guilty as charged. The club was sentenced to a fine of R200 000, which was wholly suspended for two years. Thidiela was sentenced to a fine of R200 000, of which R150 000 was suspended for two years.

Apart from the monetary sanction, Thidiela was further sentenced to a four-match ban from matches, also similarly suspended for two years. Thidiela and his club were jointly ordered to pay the costs of the sittings of the disciplinary committee.
