Can Mbombela stop Leopards?

With the NFD league programme gradually coming to an end, teams will be fighting for promotion and to avoid relegation this weekend. Four matches will be played tomorrow and four on Sunday.

It remains to be seen whether Mbombela United will have the strength to stop Black Leopards when they meet at the Kanyamazane Stadium in Nelspruit tomorrow. The last time Mbombela and Black Leopards met in a league clash was back in November last year. They played to a 2-2 draw at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

While a victory will be good for the Mpumalanga team to restore their pride, Lidoda Duvha must win the match in order to keep their title hopes alive. Leopards's front runners, Ivan Mahangwahaya, Mwape Musonda and Leonard Ntshangase, are expected to keep the United team running for cover throughout the game. Mbombela will pin their hopes on Lazarus Dlamini and Freddy Dlomo for goals.

Witbank Spurs and Cape Town All Stars will meet at the Puma Rugby Stadium in Emalahleni. The Cape Town derby between Stellenbosch FC and FC Cape Town will be staged at the Athlone Stadium.

Mthatha Bucks will undertake a journey to Pietermaritzburg. Their match against Royal Eagles will be staged at the Harry Gwala Stadium. Both Royal Eagles and Mthatha Bucks shared the spoils with their opponents in their matches last weekend.

Sunday will see Santos host Milano United at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town. A KZN derby between Thanda Royal Zulu and Amazulu will be played at the Umhlatuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay. Thanda Royal Zulu are currently leading the pack, while Amazulu are one of the close contenders for the league title.

Magezi FC will host the University of Pretoria at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, while Real Kings and Jomo Cosmos will test each other’s strength at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Durban.
