Can Leopards beat Milano?

The activities for the National First Division League will resume this weekend after a break of seven weeks. It remains to be seen whether Black Leopards will continue to maul Milano United when they meet at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Sunday afternoon. The last time the two sides met was when Lidoda duvha mauled the Cape Town side 4-0 in their first-round league match at the Thohoyandou Stadium six months ago.

According to the spokesperson of Leopards, Mr Berry Ramunenyiwa, the Thohoyandou side is ready to face the second-round activities. He revealed that they had played several friendly matches in the past weeks in a bid to keep the players fit. He stated that they beat the Absa Premiership sides Baroka FC and Polokwane City 2-0 and 3-1 respectively in their last two friendlies.

Asked about the new players they had recruited during the transfer-window period, Ramunenyiwa said that the only player they had roped in was a goalkeeper, Tyson Muleka. Muleka was playing for Baroka FC. He confirmed that they had released three players, Thembisani Nevhulamba and Avhashoni Tshinuna (goalkeeper) and a defender, Katlego Molomo.

The Leopards defenders, Marks Munyai, Lebohang Mabotja and Jean Munganga, are expected to keep their danger area clean while Leonard Ntshangase, Mwape Musonda and Ivan Mahangwahaya will make things happen at the forefront.

Leopards will host Santos at the Thohoyandou Stadium next Wednesday, February 15. Thanda Royal Zulu will entertain Mbombel United at the Umhlatuze Sports Complex in Richards Bay.

Royal Eagles will host Stellenbosch FC at the Harry Gwala Stadium. Amazulu and University of Pretoria will meet at the Tuks Stadium. Magezi will fight for league points with Witbank Spurs at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. The match between Jomo Cosmos and Mthatha Bucks will be staged at the Mthatha Stadium.  The Cape Town derby between Santos and Cape Town All Stars will be played at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town this evening (Friday) starting at 19:30.
