Prayer session for a safer R578 road

Pastors from various denominations, representatives from the Waterval SAPS and traffic officers from the Makhado Municipality have been converging on the R578 road next to Mbokota regularly over the past few years to pray that the high number of road accidents on this deadly road may subside.

On Sunday, 31 July, along with church members, law enforcement officers and community members, they converged again at a certain spot along this road where many fatal accidents have previously occurred for a healing and cleansing ceremony, and to thank the Lord for answering their prayers.

One of the organisers of the event, Pastor Lucky Maluleke, said going back to the spot and thanking the Lord for sparing so many lives during the festive seasons was important. “The Bible tells us that our Lord is a good listener and needs people who are dedicated in prayer. We have no doubt that our prayers are being heard because we serve a living God. This is a testimony that our God cares for those who ask and pray unceasingly. We will continue to ask Him to protect everyone on our roads because He is the source of life.”

Maluleke said seeking divine intervention to stop accidents from happening on the roads was important. “There are things that we as human beings cannot accomplish without the Lord’s intervention. We need assistance from God to achieve our set road safety goals.” He thanked everyone who took part in this thanksgiving session.

On behalf of the community, the well-known PSL soccer referee, Mr Jelly Chabane, expressed his appreciation to the pastors and congregants from the respective churches, traffic officers, community members and the Waterval police.

Quoting the Bible, he said they must put everything before God, “and He will answer our prayers”. Chabane urged every road user to be more cautious when using the roads.
