Outreach in Thohoyandou

The Heart of the Givers, a non-government organization based in Thohoyandou, has reached out to more than 60 needy children of the Thohoyandou Children’s Home and donated items such as sanitary pads, clothes, toothpaste and toothbrushes, school uniforms and shoes to them.

The chairperson of the organisation, Mr Zwivhuya Neluheni, said that they aimed to take care of less-privileged children. According to him, they also helped Grade 12 learners to apply for admission at universities, providing them with information on how to access bursaries.

“We are also getting some support from the Divhani Youth Ambassadors, I Choose to Care, Jireh Charity Organization, Be that Girl, among others, and we are going from strength to strength,” said Neluheni.

He said his organization also went around and asked for some donations, so that they could reach many children and learners whose situations were miserable and needed intervention.

Ms Jennet Munyai, the Child and Youth Care Supervisor at the Thohoyandou Children’s Home, was over the moon to learn about the assistance for the needy children.

Mr Prince Mnisi from I Choose to Care said that they supported the initiatives of the Heart of the Givers, because they were trying to help needy children with much-needed items.
