Three pupils and teacher discharged after horrific accident

The principal of Jumbo Progress Combined School, Ms Meisie Helms, is thankful that three of the four learners and a teacher who were transferred to Polokwane Hospital after a horrific vehicle accident near the school last Tuesday, were discharged on Monday and they were reunited with their families.

A learner at the school, Nqobile Jele (10), was killed in the crash.

Helms told Limpopo Mirror that she had visited the four learners, Pfarelo Maboswo, Mulalo Ratshilumela, Mudisadakalo Ndou and Ndalamo Tshivhase, and the teacher, Ms Judith Tshivhase, in Polokwane on Monday. Only Ndalamo Tshivhase is still in a very serious condition, but the other four were released.

Ms Livhuwani Mukumela, the mother of two of the injured learners, Pfarelo Maboswo and Mulalo Ratshilumela, told this paper that it was through the grace of God for her children that they had recovered sufficiently to be discharged.

Limpopo police spokesperson Col Moatshe Ngoepe said they were investigating a case of culpable homicide as a result of reckless and negligent driving. No arrests had been made yet, he said.
