Residents had to manoeuvre carefully on Friday morning around a load of citrus that was scattered all over the traffic circle on the N1 south, just outside Louis Trichardt. According to traffic officials, the driver of a truck, carrying the load of lemons and oranges, lost control when he approached the circle. The accident happened at approximately 03:30. The driver alleged that because the warning lights were switched off inside the circle, he did not spot the circle in time. He then tried to slow down his truck before driving straight through the circle. The driver’s sudden stop, caused the truck’s trailer to crash into the cab, spilling it’s load all over the road. The truck driver was not injured, but it took several hours to clear the road of all the spilled fruit.
