Brother and sister in trouble over illegal firearms

Two siblings were arrested by the Makhado Police after they were allegedly found in possession of illegal ammunition and a firearm.

According to the local police spokesperson, Const Irene Radzilane, the possibility of linking the suspects to other armed robbery and house robbery cases around Louis Trichardt, cannot be ruled out as yet.

The 28-year-old male suspect was being sought for questioning in connection with a burglary case, and was arrested last Thursday, 11 January in Mpheno Makhakhi near Waterval. His 23-year-old sister was later arrested near Mavhungeni.

During the arrests police confiscated 15 rounds of ammunition and two 9mm pistols of which the serial numbers had been filed off.

Both were expected to appear before the Tshitale Magistrate Court on Monday (today).
