Foul play cannot be ruled out, following the death of two people who were discovered burnt to death in a local shop.
According to a police spokesperson, Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the incident was reported early this morning (1 August) at a shop in the Bungeni Village, in the Waterval area.
The police were notified by the community, said Ngoepe, after they noticed flames sprouting out of the shop’s roof. When the police and local fire brigade arrived on the scene, the shop had, unfortunately, been reduced to ashes.
The police discovered two burnt bodies inside the shop and subsequently opened an inquest docket for further investigation. “The motive behind this incident is not clear at this time, and foul play can therefore not be ruled out,” said Ngoepe.
Anyone with information that can assist the police with their investigation is requested to contact Capt Boshomane at Tel 079 894 5501 or their nearest police station.
