'I love what I'm doing,' says photographer

Twenty-three-year-old Ndamulelo Lefley Mudau, a resident at Bushy Park in Mashamba, understood very well that sitting at home and doing nothing would not benefit him in any way. He saw an opportunity to start a photography business in his area, and today his business is doing very well, with hundreds of clients who support him.

“When the realisation hit home that photography was a scarce practice in my area, I grabbed the opportunity and put it to good use,” he said. “I am a young man who had always wanted to have my own business.”

Ndamulelo, who started out by selling T-shirts and handy items in the Elim area, has a beautiful daughter whom he never wants to disappoint in his whole life. “I love my daughter. She is one of the main reasons why I wake up in the early hours of the morning and head out to do my photography business in the bustling streets of Elim. I live with my mother; my daughter and my mother are my pride and joy. They keep me going. Just seeing them smile makes me happy.”

Ndamulelo confesses that he had fallen so in love with photography that he could hardly spend an hour without thinking about it. “I find myself thinking about different settings, shades and angles, for all my customers are unique in their own way and have different artistic tastes,” Ndamulelo said.

His work can sometimes be very challenging in that he must ensure that he satisfies each customer who comes with different expectations. “It is not a problem for me, but a situation that challenges me to do better and come up with new plans and techniques, until everyone is satisfied,” he said. “My customers are everywhere, though; sometimes I spend time photographing people in public places, like the Elim Mall.”

He takes further pride in the fact that his customers are always happy with his work. “Their honest responses make me have a sense of pride for what I do, and for doing it well,” he said.

Ndamulelo Lefley Mudau is on most social-media platforms and can be reached on Tel 066 196 7241.
