Man found dead outside primary school classroom

Activities at the Tshifulanani Primary School in Lwamondo-Mathule village, just outside Thohoyandou, were disrupted on Tuesday, 21 September, when the body of a young man was found hanging outside one of the classrooms.

According to the school principal, Ms Gladys Sithubi, one of the security guards at the gate was about to take out a dustbin at about 05:30 on Tuesday morning when he made the gruesome discovery of the man, hanging from a rope near the door of a classroom at the school.

The circumstances around the incident were still sketchy at the time of our going to press, but Sithubi said that the whole school was fenced off with steel poles and that the gate had been closed. She said that for someone to enter the school premises would have been difficult, unless they had jumped over the poles.

“I was called to the school, and when I arrived, I found the man hanging from a rope. I informed the police about the incident. After consulting with the educators and SGB members, we decided to send the learners back home, as they would only have been even more traumatized about what had happened, which is the first of its kind at the school,” said Sithubi.

The Vuwani police are investigating the incident. Limpopo police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the police were on their daily patrol in the area when they were informed about the incident. The man was identified as Rolindwa Nelwamondo (21) of Lwamondo-Tshikosi village.
