New 'wheels' for young Vhuthuhawe

Ten-year-old Vhuthuhawe Mukosi of Ngwenani ya Ha-Themeli is beaming with happiness, now that he has a brand-new set of wheels.

Except for the partial use of his right hand, the young boy was born paralysed in the rest of his body and has been bound to a wheelchair all his life, always dependent on someone to push him around from one point to another. Magoma Foundation learned about his plight and made the decision to set him up with an electric wheelchair that he can operate himself and thus move around freely and without assistance.

The unexpected presentation of this new wheelchair on 17 July was met with unspeakable joy and gratitude.

Vhuthuhawe’s father, Mr Nditsheni Mukosi, said that life had not been easy for them, caring for a child with special needs. “Raising a child can be a difficult task, but raising a child with special needs becomes quite a challenge. We have no words to express our gratitude to Magoma Foundation for their donation. They do such a great job, and we are humbled by it,” Mukosi said.

Mr Tshifhiwa Magoma, director of the foundation, said he was touched by the plight of the boy, and wanted to ease the load for his parents too. “We try to lift the living standards of our people. By giving back to the community, we plant a seed of hope, which will germinate to fruitfulness and thereby defeat poverty and starvation,” Magoma said. “This is not the first time, and neither will it be the last, to help and make a difference in people’s lives.”

Vhuthuhawe proudly drives around in his new ‘vehicle’. “Thanks a million to the Magoma Foundation. They came out of the blue with this wheelchair for me, and I am so happy. My life has never been this easy. God has changed my life, thanks to them,” he said.
