Disego shows that beauty can also be part of a police career

Disego Tshivhase, an established model originally from Nzhelele, continues to cement her image and brand in the industry through various related activities and programmes.

When Limpopo Mirror first wrote about Disego four years ago, she was the reigning Miss Face of Savanna Mall 2016 and engaged in social causes, such as donating food and toiletries to orphanages and other institutions.

Disego, who is originally from Maname Paradise village, attended Tshikuwi Primary School and matriculated at the George Mbulaheni Secondary School. Earning herself a position within the South African Police Service and launching her cosmetic brand took hard work and determination. “Modelling is part of my lifestyle in that I exert myself through it,” she said. “I am not just Disego Tshivhase, but a brand. Most people refer to me as ‘a beauty with brains’, and that’s how they see me.”

Her love of modelling started in 2009 when she took part in local pageants. As a model from the rural areas, participating in bigger pageants was sometimes challenging, she said, due to financial constraints.

“I was raised by an unemployed single mother who, unfortunately, passed away in 2019, leaving me with my two little brothers to take care of,” she said. “Being a model and also a policewoman who serves the community with pride are my two priorities.”

She previously won other modelling titles, such as the Miss Sapa Yopa, Miss Legacy South Africa and Miss Judarois Princess.

“I took part in the Miss SA competition, even though I didn’t make it to the finals,” she said. “I am a born model and I have what it takes to break the barriers, regardless of where I come from.”

Disego recently launched her skin range, called Gorgeous Skin by Dee. “As a model I know what beauty is,” she said. “I love seeing women feeling comfortable in their own skin without changing their colour. These products are made with love and infused with natural organic oils to leave your skin moist and nourished, giving you a permanent glow.”

She encourages young women to work harder and never to allow discouragement to get them down. “Having to choose two careers is easy, simply because I love what I do,” she said. “So, I will encourage young aspiring models never to give up doing what they do, because there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
