Ligaraba to lead ward 41 as new councillor

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Vhembe region wishes to congratulate Mr Johannes Ligaraba for securing victory in the recent by-election in Ward 41 of Thulamela Municipality in the Vhembe District Municipality, said the spokesperson of the ANC in the Vhembe region, Mr Tshifhiwa Dali.

The by-election came after the death of former ANC councillor Vhulahani Ramanala of Manini village near Thohoyandou in October last year. Ligaraba secured a massive 94% of the votes.

“From the onset, it was clear that we were going to maintain our record of being always above 85%. In one voting district, Wisdom Private, the voters made sure through their ballot that the opposition parties did not secure a single vote,” said Dali.

“We want to assure the communities in Maniini and surrounding areas that we shall make it a point that the new councillor serves the communities with all his best in terms delivery of services. We want to speed up with the delivery of services in such areas, soon after he assumes his duties as deployed councillor,” added Dali.

The mayor of Thulamela, Cllr Avhashoni Tshifhango, congratulated the new councillor on joining the municipality, adding that he had been the people’s servant in his communities before he had been elected as councillor.
