Leadership certificates for Girls Club

Nearly 40 members of the Girls Club of Lwandani Secondary School in Tshisaulu village outside Thohoyandou received certificates for their leadership skills, after they attended a two-day workshop, conducted by the Thohoyandou Victim Empowerment Programme (TVEP).

They were also guided by the SAPS on the danger of  being found in possession of dangerous weapons inside the school premises and abusing drugs and alcohol. “We have also conducted discussions about sexual harassment at home and at school,” Const Miemie Mukwevho said.

According to her, the local police services usually conduct surprise visits to various school around, searching pupils to see if they are not bringing dangerous weapons to school.

The Thohoyandou Victim Empowerment Programme's trainer and facilitator, Mr Itani Netshithuthuni, said that they had identified the group and provided them with leadership skills and focused much on leading the pupils to become future leaders. The principal of Lwandani Secondary, Mr Ernest Mashau, encouraged his learners to take education seriously during this last season of the year.
