New access road officially opened

Makhado Mayor Shonisani Sinyosi official opened the new tarred road at Zamenkomste on Friday. It was constructed at a cost of R11 million.

In the past, residents complained about the dusty and bumpy road in their area and many expressed their relief about the new road.

Sinyosi said that the opening of the road was evidence that her municipality was committed to delivering services. "Roads and bridges connect people and communities and facilitate for them to access jobs, markets and other opportunities.”

She said that most of the projects that had been approved during the financial year had been officially opened. She insisted that communities should celebrate, as the municipality would continue to take basic services to the communities.

One of the residents of Zamenkomste, Mr Zane Mamafha, thanked the community and the municipality. He said the road created smooth access to the villages. He was over the moon to find out that his community will no longer have to worry during heavy rains as the muddy roads will be a thing of the past.
