A community leader, Khuthadzo Mabogo of the local civic, stands next to the grave no one knows about at Sidou.

Comedian allegedly fakes mother’s death

Comedian, businessman and self-proclaimed ambassador of McDonalds at Thavhani Mall, Livhuwani Madazhi is in hot water for allegedly faking his mother's death.

This follows the discovery of a mysterious grave at Mangondi Ha-Sidou outside Thohoyandou.

The grave, with the name of a granny inscribed on it, has come as a shock in the village as no funeral ever took place at the time it was erected. What is more surprising is the fact that the granny in question is still alive and kicking.

Comedian Livhuwani Madadzhe, or SABC Livhu, who was recently trending after he had posted a series of funny videos, has been arrested. His girlfriend, Mphedziseni Mukwevho, was also arrested and they were granted bail of R2 000 and R5 000 respectively. They appeared in court and their case was postponed to 24 October.

The incident happened while residents of Vhembe have not yet recovered from the shocking and gruesome discoveries of violated graves at Tshitavha Sambandou that surfaced last month.

Rumours doing the rounds are that the well-known comedian faked the death of his mother to cash in on insurance money. Residents said rumours of the grave started doing the rounds two weeks ago, which led the leadership of the village to investigate the matter.

Community leader Khuthadzo Mabogo said that they had heard about the rumour of the grave a fortnight ago. "On hearing the rumour, we investigated and found that it was true. We know nothing of the grave and, surprisingly, the name on the headstone belongs to someone who is still alive.” He added that they had had meetings and were waiting for the police to help them unravel the mystery.

The local traditional leader, Vhomakhadzi Vho-Avheani Sidou, said she was still in shock. "I do not even know what to say about this. This is shocking. Imagine faking the death of your own mother. This is the first in my life that I hear of such an incident.”

She said that after hearing of the incident, they held a meeting and called for calm and that residents should give the police space to work on the case. “Everyone in the community is curious to know what is buried there and we hope the police will help unravel this mystery, " she said.

Meanwhile, social media went crazy and reacted with funny memes. Limpopo police spokesperson Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed they had arrested a man and his girlfriend and charged them with fraud and perjury.
