Hundreds of houses without roofs after storm hits Sinthumule

 

Residents in the Sinthumule area were left stranded without food and shelter after a storm hit the area on Thursday evening.

The storm left at least 200 houses roofless in the area. About 20 houses were severely damaged and left without roofs in Gogobole. According to reports, Muraleni, Madabani, Ravele, Ramahantsha, Gogobole and Tshiozwi villages were the hardest hit. Madabani Primary School and a shop at Madabani were also severely damaged.

When going to press on Friday morning there was no electricity in the area. Two people from Gogobole were injured during the incident and taken for treatment to the Louis Trichardt Memorial Hospital.

The spokesperson of the Vhembe Municipality, Mr Matodzi Ralushai told Limpopo Mirror that the situation was very bad. They had already sent members of the disaster management team to access the damage and to assist the affected families.
